Southern Railway Recruitment 2024: 2438 Apprentices Posts

Southern Railway (SR) has issued a notification for Engagement of Apprentices under Apprentices Act, 1961 for 2024-25 period. A total of 2,438 apprentice positions are available across various Divisions, Workshops, and Units within Southern Railway. The online application process begins on 22nd July 2024 at 10:00 hrs and will close on 12th August 2024 at 17:00 hrs and applications must be submitted through the Southern Railway website.

Educational Qualifications

  • For Freshers:
    • Fitter: Candidate must have passed 10th Class with at least 50% aggregate marks.
    • Welder (Gas & Electrical): Candidate must have passed 10th Class with at least 50% aggregate marks.
    • Medical Laboratory Technicians: 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with at least 50% aggregate marks.
  • For Ex-ITI Category:
    • 10th Class pass with at least 50% aggregate marks and an ITI course in the relevant trade and a certificate in the relevant trade from National/State Council for Vocational Training.

Age Limit (as on 12.08.2024)

  • Minimum Age: 15 years
  • Maximum Age: Should not have completed 22 years for Freshers, 24 years for Ex-ITI/MLT
  • Upper age is relaxable by 03 years for OBC, 05 years for SC/ST, and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwBD).

Stipend

The stipend will be as per Railway Board’s circular RBE 202/2019 and the Notification of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of dated 25th September 2019.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay application fee of ₹100 (non-refundable) plus applicable service charges. No fee charges for Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ PwBD and Women Candidates.

Selection Process

A merit list will be prepared based on the average percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (having minimum 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examinations. Candidates selected for apprentices have to present a Medical Certificate during document verification.

How to Apply

Candidates should register and get a registration number from the Regional Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Guindy/ Chennai official website https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.

When attending the apprenticeship verification process with Railways, candidates must bring the following documents:

  • SSLC Mark Sheet
  • NCVT/SCVT Certificate
  • Community Certificate
  • EWS Certificate (if applicable)
  • Medical Certificate in the prescribed format (as detailed in the Annexures)
