The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Directorate General of Home Guards (DGHG), has recently announced the Delhi Home Guard Recruitment 2024, inviting online applications from eligible candidates. About Home Guards:
Home Guards, as defined by the “Bombay Home Guards Act of 1947,” serve as a voluntary body of individuals. The voluntary nature of the Home Guards has been legally upheld, including by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in civil appeal No. 2759 of 2015 on March 11, 2015.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Citizenship and Residency:
- Candidate must be a citizen of India and a resident of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
- Should have a proof of residency which includes a valid Passport, Election Commission Photo ID Card, current and valid ration card, valid Driving License issued by Transport Dept. GNCT Delhi, or other authorized documents.
- Age:
- Minimum age limit is 20 years and maximum 45 years.
- Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.01.1979 and later than 01.01.2004 (Up to 54 years for Ex-Servicemen / Ex-CAPF Personnel)
- Educational Qualification:
- Candidate should have passed 12th (Senior Secondary).
- For Ex-Servicemen / Ex-CAPF Personnel: 10th Pass.
- Height:
- Minimum 165 cm for males and 152 cm for females.
Application Process:
- Interested candidates can apply online through the Directorate General Home Guards enrollment portal.
- A non-refundable application fee of ₹100/- plus convenience fee is applicable and can be paid through the online gateway provided.
Selection Process:
- Physical Measurement and Efficiency Test (PMET):
- Involves a 1600 meters race and measurement of height.
- Only those who qualify Physical Measurement Efficiency Test (PMET) can appear in the written test.
- Written Test:
- The written Examination will consist of 80 multiple choice objective questions, carrying 1 mark each, making a total of 80 marks, and shall be of 90 minutes duration. The question paper will be of matriculation standard (10th class).
- Selection will be based on merit, determined by adding bonus marks (where applicable) to the written examination marks. Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination and Candidates need to submit a Police Clearance Certificate obtainable from the Delhi Police website.
